Rhinoplasty

Rhinoplasty, often called a nose job, is a highly personalized procedure that reshapes the nose to create harmony with your facial features.

Whether your goals are to refine the shape, correct asymmetry, or address breathing issues caused by a deviated septum, rhinoplasty can enhance aesthetics and functionality.

Your Consultation

During your consultation, Dr. Fardad will take the opportunity to understand your concerns, goals, and vision regarding your appearance. He will discuss the procedure and explain every detail, from incision techniques to expected outcomes.

The Ideal Candidate

Candidates should be in good overall health, be non-smokers, have completed facial growth, and have realistic expectations about the results. Rhinoplasty is ideal for individuals looking to improve their noses’ shape, size, or proportions and improve breathing difficulties.

The Procedure

The rhinoplasty procedure is performed as an outpatient surgery. Typically, we use a “closed” technique with incisions inside the nostrils or an “open” approach with a small incision under the nose for more complex adjustments. The underlying bone and cartilage are carefully reshaped to achieve your desired look as close as possible. The procedure typically lasts 1-2 hours.

Recovery

Most patients return to work or school within 1-2 weeks. The bruising may take 1-2 weeks to resolve; however, subtle swelling can take several months. Detailed aftercare instructions are given to our clients to ensure your comfort and promote healing. As your results gradually emerge, you’ll see a more refined, balanced nose that enhances your overall appearance.

Rhinoplasty: Frequently Asked Questions

What is a hanging columella, and how is it treated?

A hanging columella is where the tissue separating the nostrils extends downward. It can be corrected surgically during rhinoplasty by resecting the excess cartilage.

Are there alternatives to rhinoplasty?

There are no equivalent alternatives for lasting cosmetic changes. Temporary fillers could be used for minor nasal deformities or irregularities.

What age is it safe to have a rhinoplasty?

Rhinoplasty is generally recommended after the nose has fully developed, typically around ages 15-16 for girls and 16-17 for boys.

What kind of scarring should I expect?

Usually, there is no visible scarring unless an open rhinoplasty is performed, in which case the scar would be on the columella.

What are the potential risks of rhinoplasty?

Complications are rare but may include infection, nosebleeds, reactions to anesthesia, asymmetry, and the need for revision surgery. Bruising and swelling are normal.

How long until I see results, and how long can I expect the results to last?

Initial swelling subsides within the first month, but final results may not be seen for 9 months to a year. Except for changes associated with aging, results are permanent.
